The Albatross of Island 4 (Rocks) is the first boss that flies, and it is where many players get stuck. It stays far away, so most of your gunfire misses; its poop-rain attack hits hard; and the whole fight runs on an escape timer. This guide covers the tuna that baits it, the long-range weapon you actually need, and the cover-based loop that wins the fight.
How to Trigger the Albatross Fight
The Shop NPC & the Tuna Quest
Talk to the NPC at the shop on Island 4. He warns you about a giant bird terrorizing the island and tells you it comes back when someone brings a Tuna. Do not waste ammunition shooting ordinary birds — the Albatross only appears for the Tuna.
Albatross Bait: Catch a Tuna

Buy the Professional Boss Lure on Island 4.

Catch a Tuna with it. The Tuna fights back — it throws itself at you, so dodge the incoming jump and hit it with a ranged weapon until it goes down.

Won't Appear? Check These First
- Did you actually lay the Tuna on the ground? Catching it is not enough — it has to be dropped as bait.
- Do you have the Professional Boss Lure? Regular lures catch regular fish, not the Tuna.
Albatross Gear: What to Buy Before the Fight
The Albatross fights at long range, so your gun has to hit at distance:
Sniper Rifle
One guide describes a solo clear by hiding in the casino and landing two sniper shots between the bird's poop bombs.
Uzi
Another strong option, and one walkthrough's first choice for this fight.
Why Not the Shotgun
Do not bring the Shotgun. The Albatross flies far enough that the Shotgun misses most of its shots — the one weapon that works everywhere else fails here.
Food & Healing
Stock up before the fight and eat to top off your health. Some players set up food inside their chosen building so they can heal without leaving cover. If you are constantly stopping to eat, the encounter drags out and the escape timer becomes a real threat.
Whichever you take, concentrate your coins into one gun by Island 4 and upgrade it well. A mature single build beats several half-upgraded weapons when the target is this hard to hit.
How to Beat the Albatross
The Fight Loop: Cover, Peek, Shoot
The Albatross fight is a cover-based loop, not a chase:

Pick a spot where a building, wall, or other solid cover is close enough to break the bird's incoming attack — the casino and the weapon shack are the two buildings players actually use.

When the bird keeps its distance, stay under cover — it rains poop over the open ground and the damage is real.

When the attack ends, step out and shoot.

When it dives or soars back up, use the window to fire again.
The point of cover is to create firing windows, not to hide until the fight ends.
The Escape Timer
Like every boss, the Albatross has a white escape timer under its health. If it empties, the bird escapes and you have to catch another Tuna to summon it again. Players report the timer is the real pressure in co-op — keep dealing damage between windows and do not let it run out.
The Poop Rain & the Damage Windows
Poop rain
When the Albatross is at its furthest distance, it unleashes a poop-rain attack over the area. Get under cover — standing in it eats real damage.
Damage windows
Fire right after the poop rain finishes, and again when the bird soars into the sky after a dive. Those are the two clean windows to shoot.
Don't Chase the Bird
Every time you chase the Albatross around the island, you give up the cover and firing lane you already set up. Let it come back to you instead of following it. This is the single biggest difference between clean fights and sloppy ones.
After the Fight: Bird's Head & the Next Coordinates
Keep the Bird's Head
Defeating the Albatross is not the end of the step. Pick up the Bird's Head and return it to the NPC — that hand-in unlocks the next coordinates. Do not sell the Head or wander off without it.

Why You Keep Losing to the Albatross
Missing entire bursts as it moves
→ Your shots are off. Fix control before buying more damage.
Dying in the open
→ You are not using cover during the poop rain. Stay under a roof or wall when it is far away.
The bird never coming into range
→ You are chasing it. Hold your position and make it come to you.
The escape timer running out
→ You are spending too long healing or repositioning. Keep the damage windows tight.
Albatross in Co-op
Co-op is where the real-player tricks live. The most proven strategy is the casino:
- Hide inside the casino and peek out to shoot with sniper rifles between the bird's bombs.
- Each player takes their own building stocked with cooked food, peeking out in turns so someone is always shooting.
- If one player dies outside, another can safely revive them inside the casino.
As with every boss, let the host turn in the quest for credit, and warn teammates before throwing Dynamite — it damages everyone.
Co-op guideSpeedrun & Achievement Tricks
- Bean speedrun (finish the game in under an hour): buy the SMG Compensator ($6000) and some Dynamite to collect fish fast, grab the Professional Boss Lure, catch the Tuna, and lay it out. Stay near the weapon shack and duck inside during the poop attack. You must kill the Albatross quickly or the run falls behind the hour.
- Terrorizing bird achievement: this is the same fight — defend the islanders by killing the bird.
- Dynamite: if the bird perches, that is the moment to throw Dynamite at it for heavy burst damage.
- The Easy achievement (kill any boss within 10 seconds) is better saved for a smaller boss or a pre-aimed spawn — the Albatross is a poor target because of its range and timer.
